I wasn’t able to blog yesterday, but I wanted to take a moment to thank all who have served in our military, all who have fought to preserve our freedom here in the U.S. and abroad for others, and especially to all who have died. You will be heroes for all time. You fought and died preserving and protecting the greatest country to ever exist on planet Earth. We can never say thank you enough.
I ran across this YouTube video just this last weekend. We lost about 400,000 men in World War II fighting against imperial Japan and fascist Germany. This is what our men died fighting. World War II has been romanticized almost to the point where certain things about it have become cliche, but it’s important we not forget the evil that took root in Germany so it never happens again. If Germany had won WWII, think what a different world we would be living in today.
In the context of that speech and what is going on in the world today, Reagan’s 1000 Years Of Darkness speech (that’s what I call it) is just as appropriate today as it was in 1964. Think what a different country we would be living in today if Goldwater had won the presidency then instead of Lyndon Johnson.
Never forget. And thank you again, veterans.
